How It Works

There are no shortcuts in a top tier website. Have a look at what to expect from start to finish.

Before We Get Started

What are my requirements for working together?

  1. If you really want to hit a hole-in-one then you’re going to have to fork up some dough. That’s just the way it is. I am not interested in building an e-commerce website for $500. It is not what I do. The quality of the work you get from me will far surpass many other web developers and designers. If you are looking for a cheap website then you will be able to find someone to build it for you. Rest assured that you will end up spending more money in the long run trying to fix all of the errors the cheap developer made. If you aren't willing to spend at least a few thousand dollars on your website then you aren't worth my time.

I’m not interested in equity in your start-up and I don’t take shortcuts.

  2. If we work together then I will demand your 100% undivided attention and I WILL fire you the minute I think you’re getting distracted. If I have to fire you then I will refund you for any work that has not been started yet. If I have had to fire you then I promise you that we will not be working together again.

I don't enjoy firing people and I am not interested in working with people that want to waste my time.

  3. If you want me to teach you how to write custom PHP/HTML/CSS etc... or how to build a website using Elementor then I am not the right developer for you. If you want to go to school and get a degree in Computer Science yourself then I suggest you do so. Your role is to run the business and mine is to develop the website. This means I won't have you breathing over my shoulder while I develop the website. After the website is finished, you will get a brief overview on how to manage the website.

That is just how development with me goes, you are going to have trust that I know what I am doing.

Workflow

How does it all work?

My process is designed in such a way that we can only move forward towards a complete website. After building the Sitemap the only next step is Design. For example, we can not move from Development back to Design. If you decide that you want to add an additional feature or page after what we initially agreed upon then we may start the process over AFTER we have finished the current iteration for an additional fee.

Once we’ve gathered all the necessary information, we’ll build a visual sitemap so we can all get on the same page. A sitemap is a great way to convey what pages you would like and how they are linked together. Here is a sample of what a Sitemap looks like.

Sample Sitemap

This is the fun part because now we are going to bring the website to life. We’ll work meticulously to make sure your website looks awesome. For my design software, I use Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator. At this stage you will have a clear vision on what the website will look like. Here are some design files for the home page of this website.

Now things are starting to get interesting, the design is complete and its time to make the website functional. If you decided that you wanted to get a custom theme then the development side will take longer because the code has to be manually written. If you decided that you wanted your website built with Elementor then it will be built out quicker but will look less similar to the design files.

Here is an example of a website from the design files. (It's this website)

At last, we have reached the end. We are going to hide in the basement for a few weeks and make sure everything functions properly so you can show the whole world. If within 30 days after delivery, your website is experiencing issues then I will fix them at no additional cost.

Maintenance

What happens after your website is built?

After your website is built, it is time to think about maintenance. A website is like your teeth and just like your teeth, you need to have them cleaned every once in a while. If you don't then your website will slowly start to decay. It is unlikely that things will just break at a moments notice but if you are not doing routine maintenance then the website will break. If your website gets to this point then you will likely need a new website and this will be more expensive than the affordable maintenance to prevent this from happening.
